Job Description

Manpower is currently seeking a Cell Production Member for one of our clients in Calgary. Please see details below.

Project: Development and improvement for solid oxide fuel cell and solid oxide electrolysis cell technology


* Conduct cell manufacturing in the area of tape casting, screen printing, dispensing, slip casting, high temperature sintering of solid oxide fuel cell

* Assist in ceramic process engineering development in the area of slurry, slip and paste formulation for solid oxide fuel cell, seal and other ceramic components for solid oxide fuel cell stack

* Assist in implementing new and improved manufacturing processes and related quality control measures

* Participate in cell production cost reduction initiatives for manufacturing scale up

* Interact and coordinate with other technology development groups

* Report to Team Lead, Cell Production

* Other tasks as assigned


Education: Grade 12 diploma, additional training in mechanical or manufacturing areas desired

Experience: Minimum of 1 year work experience in manufacturing environment. Hands-on skills in production, assembly, testing and machine workshop is preferred.

Ideal candidate must have:

* Be flexible and results-oriented with strong organizational and written and verbal communication skills

* Have hands-on experience with ceramic process technologies, such as tape casting, screen printing and high temperature sintering, is a plus

* Have experience with quality control systems is a plus

* Have strong computer hardware and software knowledge. Prior experience in manufacturing process database is a plus.

* Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access).

* Be able to interact with internal and external customers, work in a multidisciplinary team. Interact with manufacturing and technology teams, capable of communicating with all levels of the organization, and report results and updates to managers.

* Be able and willing to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, respirator, and other PPE as required

Working Environment/Working Conditions:

* Generally pilot production / hands on work

* Limited desk work using a computer.

* This position is located indoors and requires the ability to move between separated rooms within the same building.

* Must be able to work physically in the office environment, lab environment and pilot manufacturing environment

* Walking/standing/working in an office, lab, fabrication area, or designated installation site environment

* Lifting up to 25 lbs., utilizing both hands simultaneously, utilizing hand tools, test equipment

* Be able and willing to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, respirator, and other PPE as required.
