Manpower is currently seeking a Ceramic Process Engineer for one of our clients in Calgary. Please see details below.



Project: Solid Oxide Cell Manufacturing Process Development



Responsibilities:

* Conduct ceramic manufacturing technology development in the area of tape casting, screen printing, dispensing, slip casting, high temperature sintering of solid oxide fuel cell

* Conduct ceramic process engineering development in the area of slurry, slip and paste formulation for solid oxide fuel cell, seal and other ceramic components for solid oxide fuel cell stack

* Design and implement new and improved manufacturing processes and related quality control measures

* Advance and carry out cell production cost reduction initiatives for manufacturing scale up

* Support cell and stack pilot manufacturing

* Interact and coordinate with other technology development groups

* Report to Manager, Research and Development

* Other tasks as assigned



Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Materials Science and Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering is preferred.) Advanced degree a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience in materials or ceramic manufacturing process engineering. Experience with solid oxide fuel cell technology is a plus.



Ideal candidate must have:

* Canadian citizens and Canadian permanent residents.

* Be flexible and results-oriented with strong organizational and written and verbal communication skills

* Demonstrable fundamental knowledge of materials science and engineering

* Have hands-on experience with ceramic process technologies, such as tape casting, screen printing and high temperature sintering

* Have direct experience with quality control systems and associated engineering skills (such as DOE, gage R&R, etc.)

* Familiar with ceramic process analytical techniques: such as XRD, BET, SEM, microscopy, viscosity measurement and particle size analysis.

* Have project management and strong technical writing skills

* Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access).

* Be able to interact with internal and external customers, work in a multidisciplinary team. Interact with manufacturing and technology teams, capable of communicating with all levels of the organization, and report results and updates to managers.

* Be able to independently conceive, design and execute experiments;

* Have strong computer hardware and software knowledge. Prior experience in manufacturing process database is a plus.



Working Environment/Working Conditions:

* Desk work using a computer.

* This position is located indoors and requires the ability to move between separated rooms within the same building.

* Occasional work outdoors as needed.

* Must be able to work physically in the office environment, lab environment and in the field

* Walking/standing/working in an office, lab, fabrication area, or designated installation site environment

* Lifting up to 25 lbs., utilizing both hands simultaneously, utilizing hand tools, test equipment

* Be able and willing to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, respirator, and other PPE as required.

* Occasional domestic travel via car and/or commercial airlines.

* Travel: up to 15% domestic or international

* Have or be able to obtain a Passport
