Job Description

Our Vaughan client in the material handling machine building industry is looking to add a Controls Designer/Programmer to their Engineering team. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing PLC and control systems for your various customers. If you have experience designing automation systems as well as programming PLC's, HMI's and VFD's, then look no further, this role was created for you!

The Role:

Prepare functional descriptions of controls and sequence of operations

Develop and support PLC and HMI programs

Integrate third-party equipment into electrical design package. Examples include ethernet based communications, hardware handshaking, conveyor systems, robotics, motion control products and test equipment

Commission and trouble shoot equipment as necessary

Support Installation group with Electrical/Programming issues

Develop and produce complete electrical design packages, including detailed schematics, cable charts, panel layouts and bills of materials

Manage standard designs for repeat machines

Create accurate documentation package for each project

Ensure that designs are in accordance with Electrical codes and Safety laws



You Bring:

Minimum 5 years' experience with PLC and HMI programming

Electrical Degree/Diploma with minimum three years related experience

Experience with RSLogix500, Studio5000 and FactoryTalk View Studio

Knowledge of Motion Control Systems, preferably Powerflex VFD Drives

Robot Programming and vision system experience is a plus

Strong programming, electrical and mechanical problem-solving skills

Auto CAD Electrical required

Knowledge of industrial electrical design practices

Knowledge of Electrical Codes, Safety laws and related international Standards

Experience with selecting electrical industrial components such as relays, breakers, sensors, etc.

Basic understanding of fluid power circuits an asset

Attention to detail with hands on approach to electrical issues
