PRIMARY FUNCTION

Assemble details, sub-assemblies and final assemblies according to instructions. Load and unload contacts, solder shims or paste, and conductors on carbon assembly boats for furnace brazing. Load and unload carbon assembly boats on belt furnace for brazing.





TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Hand tools, bench and power tools, riveter, spinner, air press, squeezer, drill press, tappers, tape machine, wax pot, electrical and mechanical test equipment, paper cutter, automatic and semi-automatic equipment for calibrating, drilling, tapping, brazing, stacking, etc. Carbon or ceramic assembly boats, solder cutters or dispensers, soldering gun.







MATERIAL

Detail parts, nameplates, cartons, tape, insulation material, wire, epoxy, oil, glue, hardware, molded cases and covers, packing material, labels, solder, carbon graphite, ceramic, silver tungsten contacts, copper conductors, solder shims and/or paste.







JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift up to and including forty (40) pounds.



Must be able to work the hours outlined in the Labor Agreement.



Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED





WORKING PROCEDURE

The following are the usual major job duties but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties by the incumbent, nor the question being raised on the proper rate of pay for the assignment.







1. Receive work assignment from supervisor and/or group leader.



2. Assemble details, sub-assemblies and final assemblies using hand tools, bench and power tools.



3. Perform simple electrical and mechanical tests such as ground test, dielectric test.



4. Make up cartons, pack and stamp or label.



5. Perform soldering, cut insulation to size, cut off strip and assemble leads, cut loop and form wires, cut solder shims and wash material with solvent.



6. Perform detailing operations as instructed.



7. Operate riveter, squeezer, drill press, spinners, tappers, belt sander and bench grinder.



8. Load and unload automatic and semi-automatic equipment. Check for defective work.



9. Report defective work and equipment.



10. Load and unload contacts, solder shims or paste, and conductor into carbon assembly boats and place on furnace belt for brazing.



11. Move material as required.



12. Keep work area and equipment clean and orderly.
