Job Description

As a Lab Technician you will focus on the maintenance of electro-coating line and powder lines chemical processes, support engineering prototypes and maintain a safe and clean lab and lab equipment. You will spend the majority of your time on the floor with the production team, assisting in the process.



Lab Technician - Cambridge



Reports to: Process Supervisor / Quality Technical Manager



Major Responsibilities:



1. Maintenance of electro-coating line and powder lines chemical processes at correct levels &expected process parameters for expected coating on customer parts. Recording of all data where required in a timely manner is required.

2. Titrate and monitor all production lines daily at scheduled times.

3. Make chemical and slurry adjustments to maintain pretreatment baths.

4. Run phosphate ,paint, powder coated panels for testing purposes from all production lines

5. Ensure phosphate baths are providing proper coating

6. Maintain calibrations and corrections factors of the lab equipment daily.

7. Ensure all preventive maintenance items including but not limited to bath dumps, cleaning spray nozzles, cleaning walls of tanks, removing obstructions including parts from tanks as required well maintained.

8. Ensure process related problems/concerns communicated to appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Follow up to verify problem/concerns been corrected.

9. Test and maintain wastewater treatment systems to ensure effluent water and sludge is to by-law standards. Complete all Waste Water Technician duties. Chemical storage and waste management.

10. Monitor and maintain lab supplies, chemicals, reagents. Verify and approve incoming process supplies & materials via dock audits.

11. Document chemical usage and lot traceability

12. Maintain and manage laboratory records and experimental data, master files and databases, Input data for SPC charts per requirements.

13. Maintain clean, neat and orderly lab, all lines as per 5S requirement.

14. Support engineering prototype runs.



Qualification:



* College or University Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering from a recognized institution preferred.

* Preference will be given to candidates with experience in an analytical laboratory, particularly lab experience with analytical methods similar to those required for the position as listed under responsibilities.

* Resourceful and flexible to rotate in shifts work in weekend, change in shifts time on short notice.

* Experienced and hands-on knowledge of in electroplating processes Familiar with laboratory environment and practices.
