Job Description

General Description: The Reliability Engineer executes work in compliance the ZERO EHS Impact Philosophy. The Reliability Eng. will work in collaboration with the Plant Engineering Manager &Maintenance Manager in developing the reliability strategy and program. The role is also responsible for partnering with the Maintenance Function to execute SI's asset reliability strategy and management programs to improve availability, uptime, and overall equipment effectiveness. Where applicable, the reliability engineer should review capital projects to ensure that new designs match the reliability expectations of the asset.Ensures EHS compliance and continuous improvement in EHS performance. Development of the site's asset reliability strategy and for preventive and predictive maintenance program and processes. Drives root cause analysis and correction to eliminate equipment reliability problems. Leads implementation & maint. of site's equipment criticality analysis. Monitors, reviews, & improves existing asset maintenance practices for effectiveness and adherence to established industry or comp. best practices. Drives continuous improvement in maintenance practices making data-driven decisions including use of quantitative metrics and most current CMMS data. Participates in the development and improvement of reliability SOPs and work instructions to support the program. Partners with functional groups and the planners/schedulers to develop the scope & schedules for all equipment shutdowns. Provides technical support for plant equipment and system troubleshooting. Leads significant equipment repair initiatives, support Capital projects, and assigned process improvements. Ensures reliability program is executed in compliance with requirements of OSHA's PSM regulations. Consults asset management development strategies to ensure activities conform to Recognized Accepts Good Engineering Practices. Vigorously track sand report monthly metrics (KPI's) as well as prepare technical progress reports on active projects and initiatives. Satisfies all Corporate Quality Requirements and ISO9001 Quality Management System. Practices Responsible Care 14001 through active participation in the Responsible Care Management System and adhere to the Guiding Principles of Responsible Care 14001. Partners to drive LEAN/Six Sigma, continuous improvement of processes and operations for increased productivity and efficiency (Operational Excellence).







* BS Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent Experience

* Strong MS-Excel, MS-Word and database skills

* Extensive Process Industry equipment knowledge and experience

* Clear and concise communication skills - verbal and written

* Working knowledge of OSHA PSM standards

* Strong Troubleshooting Skills

* Adept at SAP/ERP and CMMS



* Relevant technical equip, reliability drivers & reliability best practices

* Adept at learning equip functionality as it relates to asset mgtt

* Understanding of Process Flow Diagrams and PI&D

* General understanding of Capital Proj Execution Process

* Understanding of business metrics, Performance Planning Management Cycle, & performance KPI's

* Proficient in root cause analysis and lean technique
