Job Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (Paint) for a direct-hire job opportunity with a leading client in Benson, MN. In this role, the Manufacturing Engineer (Paint) will improve manufacturing efficiency, cost, product quality, and worker safety by analyzing current methods, new methods, new technologies and cost reduction activities in selected areas.

Responsibilities include:

* Provides technical support to manufacturing and related functions specific to paint operations and media blast facilities

* Develops, designs and plans equipment and machine layouts, workflow, and safety precautions to maximize utilization of plant and manufacturing facilities

* Evaluates worker productivity and recommends improvements to increase manpower efficiency and operating performance, reduce waste and delays, and promote cost control/reductions

* Develops metrics to measure plant and equipment capacity output, and identify equipment and process flow bottlenecks

* Establishes accident prevention measures, and plans and schedules training programs for personnel concerning all phases of production operation and ensures compliance with established industry safety and design standards and guidelines

* Determines facility specifications, including analysis and evaluation of location, material resources, and structural design

* Performs technical analysis, testing, calculations, and evaluation of results to solve moderately complex engineering problems using specialized equipment and/or by computer programs

The qualified candidate will have:

* Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (i.e. Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering)

* 2+ years of paint system experience in a manufacturing environment

* Must have working knowledge of liquid and/or powder coat painting processes, to include surface preparation and pretreatment

* Proficiency in MS Office suite

* Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, ProE, Creo)

The ideal candidate will have:

* Exposure to the electrostatic powder coat paint process

* Knowledge of acids and bases and how to neutralize vats of water

* Gage and equipment calibration and control experience

* Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience

* Working knowledge of SPC (statistical process control) as a means quality control
