Job Description

Manpower Engineering is hiring a Material Flow Engineer. The Material Flow Engineer is responsible for managing the flow of materials through the facility to support production flows within the production and warehousing operations. This role provides engineering support for material flow process, documents standards and procedures, provides training, overall adherence and maintenance to ensure materials are available in designated stock, supermarket and line locations throughout the facility. This position works with Planning & Inventory Control, Production, Material Handlers, and Supply Chain to ensure robust policies are available and practiced and strive for continuous improvement.

Job description requirements for Material Flow/supply chain.


1 Applies technical expertise, commensurate with formal training and limited job experience, in the development of material flow processes. Work involves choosing between alternative proven technologies with some originality and moderate technical risk. Designs and/or develops material flow processes and equipment. Recommends changes to increase safety, reduce costs, improve quality and optimize efficiency. Participates in plant layout activities. Develops floor space analyses to confirm storage requirements and recommend practical solutions where required. Assists in qualifying manual and powered material handling equipment requirements.

2. Works to improve material flow and manage materials and inventory consistent with Lean principles. Layout of supermarket, sequencing, and kitting areas to facilitate material handling, process flow, space utilization, and labor. Defines and manages in-plant store and Kanban inventories; assists to define appropriate goals and metrics for proper material control. Provides vehicle and pedestrian flow/congestion/safety analyses and recommend practical solutions where required.

3. Interacts on a regular basis with other functional groups and customers or vendors on technical and/or administrative matters. Recommends the resources to be committed to customers and vendors in the best interest of Rosemount. Works with Production, Production Control, Supply Chain, Quality and other engineering departments.

4. Prepares detailed plans, generally spanning several months, necessary to complete assigned projects. Develops and approves schedule milestones. Develops and coordinates manpower, facility and equipment requirements for assigned projects. Proposes alternate plans for economic evaluation.

5. Administers technical procedures including process and work procedures. Implements industrial engineering system (standard cost data, capacity and equipment requirement forecasting, shop floor control system).
