Job Description

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Drafter to help support projects needs for the next six months. It's possible there could be extension or conversion if project volume is high enough. For now this is a six month contract. Client currently uses Creo but will be moving to SolidWorks in 2022. This position is located in Bloomington, MN and is required to be onsite. They do require candidates to be fully vaccinated.

Position Duties:

* Responsible for Creo modeling, component drawings, assembly drawings, production fixture design, and procurement for new product introductions.

* Provides input to Project Management and Mechanical Engineering Lead on project performance against established milestones.

* Works on project from concept through production release.

* Works with lead engineer and manufacturing engineering to ensure the manufacturability of the product and takes ownership of any design challenges brought forward.

* Prepares assembly and component drawings for manufacturing.

* Coordinates and actively participates in all activities associated with prototype builds and prototype part procurement.

* Participates in production fixture design and procurement.

* Coordinates tooling quotes and part approval with tooling vendors.

* Closely monitors and participates in prototype builds and pre-production runs to ensure that the final assembly is correct and in accordance with the documented product design.

* Participates in the redesign of existing products in an effort to reduce components or manufacturing cost, improve performance or enhance capabilities of products as assigned.

Position Requirements:

* AAS Drafting and Design or related field

* 1+ years of drafting experience is required

* Strong working knowledge of Creo is preferred, however SolidWorks is fine too

* Understanding of plastic injection molding and tool design

* Test fixture design experience

* Knowledge of the heavy vehicle, off-road, and motorcycle industries a plus
