Job Description

A medical device start up client of ours is seeking a Product Development Engineer to develop mechanical components and assemblies for a surgical navigation system. The Engineer will select materials and off-the-shelf components, and design solutions incorporating injection molded plastics, sheet metal, and machined components. The Engineer will deploy and maintain assemblies and components as part of a project team that results in a complete, ready to sell electronics-based surgical navigation product by a) designing new and maintaining existing mechanical designs, b) conducting testing and engineering studies to demonstrate performance, c) producing fixtures and support equipment for production and testing, and d) communicating status and results. This is a direct hire role located in Eden Prairie, MN.





POSITION DUTIES:



* Interface with end users to understand design requirements

* Produce manufacturable drawings and specifications

* Design injection molded parts, sheet metal components, and complete assemblies

* Build prototypes and fixtures for testing and production

* Team collaboration to achieve project targets and objectives

* Generate and protect intellectual property through proper documentation & communication

* Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:





* BSME or related engineering degree

* Ideally targeting 2-6 years of experience within product development

* Proven experience working within teams to design and refine medical devices

* Successful record designing prototypes, tools, and fixtures

* Expertise using SolidWorks to design systems and components and to produce engineering drawings

* Experience working in a quality management system
