Job Description

Project Engineer



Manpower is currently seeking a Project Engineer to fill a contract position with a major pipeline client in Edmonton, AB.



Responsibilities:

* Responsible for all aspects of the project execution activities applicable to the maintenance digs and/or other type of projects being completed within financial and scheduling constraints, in compliance with the regulatory, environmental, health and safety requirements.

* Ensure that reclamation activities are completed for the maintenance digs executed under his/her responsibility and to provide execution support with the post-reclamation program, as needed.

* Acts as a Project Engineer with direct responsibility for the safety, cost, schedule and quality performance for each project under his/her accountability.

* Ensure completion of accurate project documentation, and support document turn-over and close-out activities.

* Ensuring an appropriate level of communication with the project sponsor and internal stakeholders to define execution strategies and/or tactics that optimize the program.

* Ensuring that the project scope complies with all regulatory, environmental, health and safety requirements through effective management and coordination of internal functional groups.

* Working with Pipeline Integrity, Facilities Integrity, Corrosion Services, Regional Operations, CCO and other internal stakeholders (Land & Environmental, Regulatory, Law, SCM, Regulatory, Compliance, Aboriginal, Public Affairs) to maintain seamless coordination between the program execution activities and the pipeline operations.

* Ensuring compliance with company procedures, standards and guidelines, as well as providing recommendations for improvements.

* Able to conduct disciplined analysis to identify cost and schedule impacts & propose mitigation plans.

* Providing formal and informal project management reports for various management levels, if required.

* Assisting with the review of Requests for Proposals (RFP), budgets, cash flows and preliminary schedules.

* Preparation of daily/weekly execution status reports & schedules, and Input into monthly Status Reports and Cost forecasts, Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies and cost saving measures that may be encountered.

* Provide mentoring and training for the junior engineers/EIT's

* Organize and chair; progress, kick-off, safety, field coordination meetings and distribute minutes to all project team members.

* Use project scheduling and control tools to monitor projects plans, work hours, budgets and expenditures.



Required Education / Experience:

* Minimum of 4 years of engineering, construction and project management experience directly related to Pipeline Maintenance Projects or equivalent.

* Must be currently registered with a Professional Engineering Association in Canada.

* Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is preferred.

* Demonstrated experience in managing projects involving Pipeline Operations with a complex stakeholder structure.

* Familiar with provincial, federal and international standards and specifications applicable to pipeline maintenance program in Canada.

* Experience in coordinating project logistics that involve various internal and external stakeholders.

* Knowledge of financial and administrative processes as well as human resources management.

* Ability to travel and manage digs throughout Canada
