Job Description
SUMMARY:
The first responsibility is executing projects ($50k to $10M) within the budget and schedule according to internal expectations. The second responsibility is the process engineering related to capital projects and continuous plant improvements. Actual day-to-day duties will depend on capital project workload, process improvement requirements, and the skills and knowledge of the employees and others in the engineering group.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Project management including development of bid packages, review of drawings, oversight of contractors, budgeting, and scheduling.
* Leadership of a project team of various disciplines which is primarily on-site. This may also include individuals from other offices or from third parties.
* Development of individual project requirements (Scope of Work) based on local and corporate requirements, potential cost savings, increased uptime, etc.
* Development of material and energy balances, sizing and specification of equipment, piping, and valves as related to existing processes and new projects.
* Leadership of commissioning activities related to new installations.
* Teamwork with local production and maintenance personnel in the troubleshooting of technical issues of existing processes, often with some insight necessary from other locations.
These experiences are deemed to be beneficial in order of importance, but not necessarily all essential:
* Management of multiple projects.
* Engineering of processes handling solids
* Engineering of process utilities
* Construction oversight and confirmation
* Plant commissioning
* Use of relevant codes and standards (RAGAGEPs).
* Knowledge of instrumentation
* Engineering of processes handling flammable and combustible liquids
* Knowledge of PSM, environmental and other regulatory requirements
* Interaction with maintenance personnel
* Yokogawa VP or other control system troubleshooting, and programming
* SAP - Project Systems
Requirements
* Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
* Relevant capital project experience in the chemical process industry, especially with experience as the project manager, from engineering through procurement, construction and commissioning.
