Job Description

Accountable and responsible to adhere to all major process safety principles, lifesaving rules, and preserve high standards in regards to caring for our assets. Additional responsibilities are listed here.

Daily supervision of operator activities across major areas of operations which include production, bulk solids handling, utilities, waste water treatment, rail car movement and cleaning, and liquid unloading (barge and railcar).

Participation in incident investigations, Management of Change, and Process Hazard Analysis

Ensure proper pre-startup checks are conducted prior to restarting the unit

Supports integrity management and reliability programs (criticality, bad actors, etc.)

Timely and detailed work notifications written for plant issues

Ensure adherence to all Operations procedures and operating envelopes

Must ensure satisfactory training of new hires and existing employees by adhering to internal training guidelines, providing resource materials, encouragement, peer interaction, oversight, hands on demonstrations, testing and follow up in a consistent and timely manner.

Responsible for vacation and overtime scheduling, attendance tracking including bi-weekly verification of payroll hours, conducting monthly safety meetings and incident investigations.

Maintains proficiency in dealing with onsite emergencies, safety and mechanical issues and troubleshooting problems.

This position requires a high degree of initiative and ingenuity to lead a team of 12-15 operators. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills to ensure clear communication across all departments, the ability to resolve/avoid conflicts, coach and engage employees and foster a high-performance environment! Candidates will successfully contribute to the organization by managing priorities and influence others through daily adherence to all safety process principles and lifesaving rules.


High school diploma or equivalent and at least 5+ years of chemical process technology experience and emergency response. 5+ years in a leadership role. Candidates that have demonstrated the capability to set priorities, make decisions, take ownership, manage performance is highly desired and preferred. Candidates must be willing to work 12-hour shift rotations from days to nights on a "2-2-3" schedule.
