Shipping & Receiving Associate - Columbus, TX (78934)

Department: Distribution or Production Facility

Reports to: Shipping or Receiving Supervisor / Manager



JOB SUMMARY

* Under direct supervision, responsible for the receipt and shipment of incoming materials, supplies, and products.

* Receives goods, verifies items against the record of shipment, and inspects condition.

* Gathers, verifies, and packs items for shipment according to specifications and the transportation method used. Records received and shipped items according to established procedures.

* Supervising processes and procedures in receiving and shipping department. Ensures that goods are verified against records of shipment. Oversees the inspection of goods received.

* Supervises the maintenance of records of damaged or defective items and discrepancies in quantities and weights, and records time, date, quantity, source, and destination of materials received or shipped.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS) Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

* Must have the proper documentation, certified weight tickets to ensure receipt of correct products purchased. Must match the date and the truck/trailer number. Proof of certified CAT scale that the weight is accurate (because the product is purchased by the weight).

* Responsible for ensuring goods are shipped as required to manufacturing facilities if recycled materials, or to customer location or distribution center if finished goods.

* Pulls product accurately with close attention to detail, whether pulling from a printed pick ticket or via an RF gun; double checks accuracy of product, unit, quantity, lot number, either of their own work or another associate.

* Places damaged product in quarantine area as appropriate.

* Ensures shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution are performed in an efficient, accurate and safe manner.

* Recognizes, documents, and reports damaged product upon receipt of product.

* All other tasks as assigned



SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

* Must be able to work in a fast paced, high volume environment, and have a strong attention to detail.

* Must be a proactive "self starter" who can work well without supervision.

* Requires minimum 1 to 3 years' experience in shipping and receiving in a manufacturing environment.

* Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time.

* Requires High school education, GED, or equivalent



INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

* Direction is given by supervisor. Must interface with other hourly production team members.

* Will interface with transportation associates and external drivers / carriers.



WORKING CONDITIONS

* Work is performed in a general manufacturing environment.

* Seasonal temperatures may be extreme at times including excessive heat or cold.

* Work area is often dusty and dirty due to the concrete materials required for production.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

* Ability to use hands and fingers to complete tasks quickly and efficiently. In addition, must have the ability to move freely throughout the facility without physical limitation, and capacity to stand for long periods of time.

* Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and have the ability to bend, stoop and reach.
