    Position summary:

The Un-Racking & Packaging position is a support role for several areas of production. In tandem with our client, a leader in the petrochemical industry, Manpower is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, to fulfill an ongoing contract in Joffre, AB.

    In this role you will provide mechanical engineering and design support thru:
    * Project scope development and design of mechanical systems for Sustaining Capital projects through the (PD&I) Project Development and Implementation process.
    * Technical ownership of design work (stamping) Construction Work Packages.
    * Review and approval for new or changing equipment specifications.
    * Development of expertise in corporate technical standards. Review and approval of requests for deviations from corporate standards.
    * Technical & code calculations for feasibility assessments and in general for design work
    * Technical support to the capital program of projects in the areas of Responsible care, Industry Standards, HAZOP Reviews.
    * Work with Suppliers to optimize for use equipment

    Basic/Minimum Qualifications:
    * B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering with current P.Eng registration with APEGA
    * Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
    * Proven working experience in an owner's facility (i.e. refinery or petro-chemical plants)
    * Applied knowledge in the design and installation of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping and other pressure components and mechanical systems
    * Strong working knowledge of applicable ASME, ANSI and API codes
    * Familiar with jurisdictional requirements.
    * Experience with stress analysis software such as Caesar, compress and finite element analysis programs
    * Experience with material selection and welding specifications
    * Demonstrated experience working on smaller sustaining capital projects as a discipline mechanical engineer
    * Ability to offer practical solutions to problems in a timely manner
    * Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and tasks in a dynamic work environment within the project team and with operations, maintenance and other technical teams
    * Demonstrated commitment to Responsible Care (Safety, Health, Environment and Risk)
    * Demonstrated decision making and problem solving skills
    * Demonstrated ability to deliver quality work packages for various stages within the project life cycle.
    * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.

    PDS Designer

    Basic/Minimum Qualifications:
    * Technology school diploma with approximately 5-10 years of related practical experience and advanced computer aided drafting skills (specifically Intergraph PDS 3D design knowledge).
    * Experience with Electronic Document Management Systems (revision control)
    * Familiarity and knowledge of petrochemical manufacturing environment would be advantageous
    * Knowledge of ASME codes (specifically ASME B31.3) and industry design practices in the Piping/Mechanical discipline
    * As-Building experience required (including redlined drawings and field investigation)
    * Able to work in the office and in the field
