    Manpower is seeking an experienced Purchasing Assistant for a temp to hire position in Hampton, VA. The selected candidate will have the following responsibilities.

    * Complete data entry of material allocations to production orders into AX
    * Accurately enter data from material movements and transfer forms
    * Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies
    * Complete cycle count data entry/Perform cycle counts as requested
    * Assist with physical inventory administrative duties to include: set-up, counting assignments, allocation and retrieval of counting data.
    * Accurately enter physical inventory data
    * Produce daily shipping picking list and backlog information
    * Lower purchasing duties - expendables via credit card purchases
    * Handle all Purchasing department functions in regards to metrology
    * Act as back up for Stockroom, Receiving, Shipping and Purchasing departments.
    * Other related jobs/duties as required.

    Qualifications:
    * Graduation from High School or GED equivalent
    * 2 years work experience or specialized course work in purchasing and/or material management.
    * Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    * Good keyboarding and 10-key by touch skills
    * Proficient with MS Word and Excel.

    1. Assists in the procurement of supplies, raw materials, equipment and services. 2. Checks requisitions for completeness and accuracy. 3. Obtains and analyzes price quotations or bids from suppliers. 4. Places routine, non-complex purchase orders with suppliers. 5. Performs follow-up and expediting functions to ensure schedules are adhered to. 6. Returns material and assists with disposition of excess and/or obsolete material. 7. Reviews suppliers metrics and works with supplier base to maintain the required delivery and quality levels. 8. Expedite the movement of materials, parts and assemblies to and from the stockroom and production floor. 9. Inform appropriate personnel of problem areas and unplanned delays on schedule changes. Takes appropriate action to alleviate the causes creating a deviation from schedule, as needed. 10. Investigate the status of work in process or in receiving; gathers and compiles data and prepares and submits records, reports, and other paperwork necessary for appropriate accountability, suggesting action to be taken when serious deviations from commitments occur. 11. Performs daily follow-up to ensure the timely flow of work and deliveries to meet schedules. 12. Coordinate liaison contacts between Manufacturing, Engineering, Production Control, Field Service Material Control, etc. where required to ensure parts completion per schedule.
