Job Description

Occupational Hygiene Technologist

With over 60 years of experience in the Alberta marketplace, Manpower specializes in matching great talent with great companies. In tandem with our client, a leader in the petrochemical industry, Manpower is seeking an Intermediate Occupational Hygiene Technologist to fulfill a contract position.

The working hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 4:00pm. This position is located at our client's site located 25 km east of Red Deer.

Role Requirements as an Occupational Hygiene Technologist:
* Facilitate hygiene training
* Fit testing (Respirator and Ear Plug)
o Maintain inventory of equipment, supplies, etc. required to conduct fit testing
o Conduct fit testing/training for employees and contractors as required
o Enter fit test records into database
o Produce applicable reports
* Maintenance / calibration of hygiene equipment
o Maintain inventory of department equipment
o Schedule and plan annual factory calibration of equipment
o Maintain calibration documentation in database
* Workplace Exposure Assessments/Monitoring (Personal and Area)
o Schedule, plan monitoring surveys
o Prepare, calibrate, use sampling equipment for a variety of workplace health hazards including hydrocarbons, noise, radiation, weld fume, particulates, Indoor Air Quality, moulds, etc.
o Enter monitoring data in database (Medgate)
o Liaise with analytical labs for analysis of samples
* Program and procedure reviews/updates
* Review and approve new chemical requests
* Data entry in Medgate system
* Respond to Site/client requests for hygiene support e.g. provide guidance on health related issues associated with physical, chemical and biological materials
* Draft, finalize and publish required reports
* Facilitate, participate, conduct, follow-up on findings from internal and external audits

Educational / Experience requirements:
* Diploma or degree in Occupational Hygiene or related OH&S discipline
* 2-5 years related experience
