Job Description

Customs & Logistics Analyst

Manpower, a global leader in the staffing industry, has over 50 years of experience servicing clients in the Alberta marketplace. In tandem with our client, a leading petrochemical company, Manpower is seeking a Customs & Logistics Analyst to fulfill a contract position in Calgary, Alberta.

This role strengthens the Corporate Logistics team's performance by addressing customs issues, processing invoices, analyzing customs and logistics related data, and assisting in the resolution of process variances and issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assisting the business and our customs broker to ensure our imports and exports are timely, efficient and compliant with respect to the regulations of countries involved.
* Liaising between customs broker, vendors and internal clients to address custom documentation and data issues in order to ensure optimal import / export processes and avoid clearance delays.
* Creating or updating analyses or reports in accordance with written procedures.
* Extracting data directly from SAP or by creating or running Business Objects queries and applying analytical techniques to produce sound, credible, and timely customs or logistics related analyses.
* Identifying improvement opportunities to strengthen procedures and adapt to changes in the business environment.
* Evaluating and analyzing various supply chain opportunities from a cost/benefit perspective as well as engaging in assessment of business activities and development of strategies to improve freight and process effectiveness.
* Producing reports and visual tools for commercial managers that help them understand business activity, establish negotiation positions, and create high quality presentation materials conducive to productive internal and external discussions (e.g. charts, flowcharts, PowerPoint slides etc.).
* Updating existing forecasts, stewardship charts, international and domestic freight cost reports, issue logs, and bench-marking tools.
* Providing back-up support to team members as required.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following:
* A Bachelors of Commerce Degree
* Strong analytical and communication skills.
* Logistics experience and familiarity with customs formalities and international trade transactions.
* Strong ability in efficiently transforming data into information using Microsoft Excel. At a minimum, the candidate needs to already be proficient in charts, pivot tables, conditional sum, data validation, etc. and be able to create and edit formulas containing multiple Excel functions. The ability to create and edit form controls, apply conditional formatting, and edit simple macros is desirable.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects/activities and ensure successful completion.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision.
