Job Description

As qualified Health & Safety Advisor, you know what it takes to make a work place safe. We are seeking an experienced and Health and Safety Champion to manage all items relating to plant safety for a Tier 1 international supplier of automotive safety systems.

The primary focus of this role is to manage and support health & safety, environmental & risk assessment matters.


* Lead, plan, implement and maintain continuous improvement needed to ensure the health and safety all associates, customers, contractors, visitors, government & safety agencies (and sister facility if required)

* Manage all health and safety initiatives and act as trusted advisor and champion of a healthy and safe workplace

* Provide direct interface with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance

* Participate and facilitate HS&E audits, front-end process engineering events, focusing on risk assessment, evaluation of new processes and review of facility layouts for potential HS&E issues

* Provide technical expertise and assistance to facility, in recognition and identification of potential hazards/risk, and implementation of appropriate controls and corrective measures to mitigate and eliminate such risks or hazards thereof

* Management on all items to be actioned (ongoing), development of plant policies, procedures

* Investigations, reporting and resolution of all near misses or injuries

* Conduct worksite inspections, proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations

* Co-chair of JHSC and all related activities

* Continuously improve health & safety program via research, analysis, and execution of best practices

* Create policy standards for Canadian facilities as applicable to Federal/Provincial laws

* Monitor employee progress on-site to ensure compliance to H&S program

* Auditing of worksites, develop & implement policies and programs, deliver training


* Post-secondary Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety

* 3 years relevant experience, ideally in manufacturing industrial processes

* Knowledge of applicable/current Government legislation

* Experience working with problem solving techniques (Six Sigma, 5S, 8D) preferred

* Demonstrated experience managing multiple responsibilities in a busy work setting

* Highly action/solutions oriented

* Proficient with MS Office and strong report writing competencies
