    The analysis, research and completion of complex, non-routine appeals and grievances within the company.
    Will address all customer concerns and ensure resolution and satisfaction.
    Ensure timeliness, quality and efficiency in all work to comply with mandated,legislative, North Carolina Department of Insurance (NCDOI) and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and Federal requirements.
    Initiate claim adjustments on individual cases when necessary.
    Provide written documentation of case determinations to appellants and/or all involved parties in a timely manner as required
    by mandates and legislation.
    Identify trends and high-risk issues to make recommendations to address future exposure.
    Identify and take corrective action on appeals that result from noncompliance of contract provisions, appeal guidelines and/or
    CMP.
    Hiring preferences:
    - RN license with 3+ years of hands on patient care experience
    - LPN license with 5+ years of hands on patient care experience
    - Computer proficiency and familiarity with the Microsoft suite
    - Experience working in a hospital or in a large health-care facility is preferred

    Accountable for conversion of diagnoses and treatment procedures into codes using an international classification of diseases. Assigns physician and procedures charges as appropriate, utilizing accurate CPT and modifier usage. Ensures that records are coded in a timely and accurate manner.

    Details

    Ensures that records are coded within 48 hours of discharge, excluding weekends and holidays.
    Reviews charts thoroughly to ascertain all diagnoses/procedures.
    Contacts responsible physician in a professional, tactful manner, if diagnosis is not available on chart.
    Meets quality standard of having 100% of correct physician level assignment as supported by provider documentation.
    Refers chart to Director, if there is a question regarding diagnoses/codes.
    Utilizes computerized coding and abstracting equipment.
    Codes all diagnoses/procedures in accordance to ICD-10-CM coding principles.
    Meets quality standards of having 95% of principal diagnoses and procedures appropriately and/or coded.
    Maintains the number of DRG/coding changes below the 3% quarterly per PRO threshold.
    Stays current with changes in coding requirements. Follows coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations.
    Requirements

    Previous health care work preferred.
    Certified Coder from accredited entity required;
    RHIT or RHIA certification preferred.
    Ability to work with physicians in a collaborative manner.
