Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible to perform various operations in the process of fabricating and installing conveyor belting by performing routine activities including but not limited to, safe operation of various fabricating machinery, housekeeping and special projects within your defined area. Responsibilities also include knowledge and involvement in lean, and team activities.



TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NEEDED

Operates a conveyor belt-slitting machine, ride on forklift, power lacer, rotary knife slitter, linatex cutter, finger punch, finger splitter, belt skiver, vulcanizing presses and various power hand tools and manual hand tools of the trade, along with a drill press, band saw and hand press. Driving company or rental vehicles and the use of corporate computer resources for MS office and ERP systems.



RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

* Ensure that you are always following standard Safety Procedures .

* Report any work-related incident or accident that causes you pain, no matter how trivial you think it might be.

* Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures within assigned areas.

* Perform necessary procedures and duties in one or more of the production departments.

* Read, understand and follow appropriate "Quality Control procedures" for each department.

* Slit conveyor belting

* Follow written policies and procedures to record all stock changes

* Lace conveyor belting

* Cut endless laps and vulcanize domestic belting

* Perform Production Cell fabrications

* Fabricate Thermoweld V-guides and cleats

* Maintain a clean and safe working environment in a team setting

* Excellent attendance

* Conduct belt installation at customer location by installing belt on customer's equipment and ensure proper tracking

* The flexibility to work outside of scheduled hours to meet customer requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

* Basic math skills and the ability to read a tape measure

* Basic electrical knowledge

* Basic mechanical skills

* The ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing.



DIRECTION EXERCISED

This position supervises no other.



WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to machinery and airborne particles. The noise level can be loud, including pounding and grinding. Safety gear, such as goggles, gloves, and helmets should be worn on a regular basis.



ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS

* Walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling;

* Reaching, handling, fingering and/or feeling;

* Talking and/hearing

* Seeing; depth perception and good peripheral vision.

* Manual dexterity, and ability to lift up to 70 pounds

* The ability to maneuver in tight spaces.



POSITION TYPE

This is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours and must work 35 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
