Job Description

Jr Engineer Technologist



Manpower is currently seeking a Jr Engineer Technologist for a long term contract position in Calgary, AB.



Responsibilities:

* Operate lab equipment including batch reactors, vacuum filters, and catalyst processing units, and perform sample analysis

* Ensure accuracy of experimental results, identify (unusual) trends, and perform statistical analysis

* Prepare experimental sections within technical reports

* Suggest improvements to equipment, procedures and processes

* Develop Design of Experiments (DoE's) and construct or customize units in collaboration with scientists/ engineers

* Coordinate, prepare and submit samples into LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) for further analytical testing

* Maintain complete and accurate records of experimental work as well chemical and sample inventories

* Interpret and follow internal Standard Operating Procedures and Codes of Practice

* Lead equipment modifications following the Facility Change Management (FCM) process

* Act as the FCM facilitator for the Petrochemicals team

* Act as an equipment steward for assigned lab equipment

* Act as the focal points for NORM testing

* Once established in the role (evaluated by demonstrating the required competencies on a repeated basis), additional duties may be added to further support the Petrochemicals portfolio



Experience:

* Chemical Engineering Technology Diploma (with more than 4 years of related experience), or equivalent

* Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating excellent educational achievements (Please provide copy of related transcript when applying)

* A basic understanding of laboratory unit operations and analytical instrumentation, applied understanding of heat & mass transfer and thermodynamics

* Results oriented with a continuous drive for improvement

* Ability to work safely, effectively and independently with teams of specialists to meet project goals

* Experience in a laboratory or field environment is considered an asset

* Experience in programming is considered an asset
