RESPONSIBILITIES
* Responsible for the accounting, reconciliation, analysis, and reporting of Gas Commodity, Distribution and Transportation Revenues
* Ensure that required revenue related manual journal entries, and related analyses, are prepared accurately and timely in support of financial close requirements and deadlines
* Prepare no bill revenue accrual, and perform related volume and rate analyses
* Validate customer billings (over 2 million customer accounts) and volumes on a monthly basis for accuracy and completeness, prepare reconciliations between the customer billing system, general ledger, and data warehouse
* Identify accounting, data, and system issues in a timely manner, investigate and provide timely and effective solution recommendations
* Prepare monthly financial analysis package for internal management review and quarterly audit packages
* Ensure that proper SOX documentation is maintained, and work closely with both internal and external auditors to ensure that audit requirements are met and SOX compliance is achieved
* Present monthly financial results and analyses during internal review meetings, and fulfill requests from the auditors to assist with quarterly and annual external audit process
* Identify and provide recommendations to Supervisor, Utility Revenue for process improvement opportunities
* Ensure that all accounting practices and policies in the revenue and margin area are in accordance with US GAAP requirements through working closely with the external reporting group
* Prepare evidence/support for regulatory filings as required
Education/Skills
* University degree in Accounting or Finance (or related field)
* Professional accounting designation such as CPA (or pursuing designation)
* A minimum of 4 years in technical accounting role with analytical experience
* Extensive knowledge of SAP, Oracle, Excel, and Access
* Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
* Experience working with SQL Developer would be an asset
* Previous industry or regulated environment experience an asset
