Job Description

Our client is a long established and respected leading global manufacturer of Commercial Heaters with North American Manufacturing facilities, global warehouse locations and a network of distributors, making them best-in-class. Due to continued growth, they have an immediate opening for a plant Materials Manager, to be based at their La Crosse, Wisconsin facility.

Position Description and Responsibilities
•Responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the process of sourcing and buying materials, products and services.
•Responsible for creating the deals that keep materials flowing into the factory so that products can continue to flow out of the factory.
•Will work closely with all members of the site Operations team.

The Materials Manager is a principal of the Operations Team.
•Participate in the development of the solicitations and requests for proposals for equipment and materials
•Develops contract management instructions and procedures for acquiring supplies
•Implements company purchasing policies and assists in purchasing policy preparation.
•Works with Human Resources personnel to interview, hire and train materials or purchasing department staff members, as needed.
•Involved withglobal sourcing of all materials.
•Works closely with engineering, marketing, finance and operations to ensure all specifications are met and the lowest total cost is achieved.
•Works with engineers and production supervisors to develop specifications for the needed supplies or equipment.
•Locates vendors that can provide supplies, machinery or other equipment in a timely manner
•Negotiates Vendor Contracts and establishes the procedures that affect the company’s contract with the vendor.
•Reviewsand processes requisitions for materials the company acquires.
•Direct the department staff’s activities

Ideal Candidate will have:
•8+ years of materials experience, 4 + years purchasing and inventory control and at least three years of experience at the management level.
•Proven record of achievements in inventory control and MRP system management.
•Strong organizational and time management skills.
•A proven track record of excellent communication and negotiation skills.
•Strong academic background including a BS or BA (Operations or Production Management preferred).
•C.P.M. and / or CPIM preferred, but not required.
