Compliance Officer, Charleston WV



Position Overview

The Bank's Compliance Officer ensures the bank and its employees are adhering to federal and state banking laws and regulations.



Essential Job Functions



Oversees and manages the Compliance Department by:

o Developing, initiating, maintaining, and revising policies and procedures for the operation of the Banks's Compliance program to prevent illegal, unethical or improper conduct.

o Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk by conducting internal reviews.

o Develops and implements corrective action plans for resolutions of potential liabilities or issues.

o Provides general guidance to avoid or deal with on-going compliance issues.

o Provides reports on a regular basis to the Board of Directors and Senior Management to keep them informed of the Bank's operation and their compliance efforts.

o Works with Department Manager's to develop an effective compliance training program for new employees and ongoing training for all employees.



Oversees and Manages Staff by:

o Selection of new compliance staff member.

o Provides daily guidance and assignment of duties.



Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field.

* One to Two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager Certification (CRCM), preferred.

* Knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering.

* Experience in Bank compliance and/or risk management.





Other Skills/Abilities:

* Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, tact and diplomacy in dealing with customers and employees.

* Strong oral and written communication skills.

* Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and conflict resolution skills.

* Proactive in identifying potential concerns and following-up to resolve issues.

* General knowledge of banking policies and procedures.

* Ability to make difficult decisions with little supervision.

* Competence with computers and software programs. Microsoft Office Programs.
