Job Description

Summary: The Manufacturing Line Mechanic performs line setup and line changeover of cosmetics manufacturing equipment. They are also responsible for equipment maintenance, repair, and working with the machine shop to recommend and perform equipment upgrades & improvements. They are expected to identify & recommend improvements in machine productivity & efficiency to management and participate in implementing those improvements.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Please note that the following description is not meant to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities and metrics but to highlight some key ones).



Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs all machinery and equipment within the designated facility. This may include, but is not limited to, PLC, packaging equipment, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, instrumentation, refrigeration, etc. This may require reading service manuals, schematics, diagrams, blue prints or as-builds.

Set-up, adjust, and line changeover of manufacturing equipment to include: tube and bottle fillers, cappers, labeling equipment, Videojet coders, cartoners, and bundle wrappers.

Troubleshoot and adjust powder pressing and handling equipment.

Analyze mechanical and operational problems and take corrective action.

Perform preventive & reactive maintenance and respond to equipment failures.

Monitor lines for malfunctions, recurring problems or unsafe conditions. Make adjustments to maintain quality production.

Perform routine diagnostic checks on automated systems, monitor automated systems, isolate problems and perform repairs.

Ensure correct performance of motion controllers and human machine interfaces.

Read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, mechanical & electrical schematics, and service manuals.

Ensure production goals, up-time standards, and deadlines are met.

Assist in identifying opportunities to improve machine processes and participate in implementing these improvements.

Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.

Maintain a clean, organized, sanitary and safe work area.

Work with Q.A. and validation groups to attain operational requirements.

Assures all personnel comply with all Department and Company safety, conduct, and operating policies, guidelines, and rules. Report any unsafe practice or condition.

Any other tasks that may be assigned by Supervisor to meet company goals.
