Job Description

Experience:



* Ability to analyze, review and recommend the approval of financial reports (e.g. annual budgets, financial statements) for documenting activities and issues, filing reports, meeting compliance requirements, and/or providing supporting materials for requested actions.



* In depth knowledge of internal audits and analysis of cash flows, fiscal trends, and economic conditions for ensuring program operations are within budget and in accordance with fiscal practices.



* Strong understanding of budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances, and related financial activities for school districts or government agencies for ensuring that allocations are accurate, revenues are recorded, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed.



* Experience working with a wide variety of manual and electronic fiscal information, files and records for providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail



Examples of Responsibilities:



* Independently gather and review supporting documentation to evaluate the viability of a school district budget and interim reports for compliance with state criteria and standards, as well as fiscal solvency.



* Review and calculate deferred maintenance, tax override, and bond interest and redemption.



* Coordinate and review state-mandated reports.



* Review district Local Control Accountability Plans for fiscal compliance.



Knowledge:



* Prefer Certified Public Accountant who has passed the Uniform CPA Exam, set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).



* Prefer Certified Fraud Examiner certification, set by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).



* Prefer Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a similar area. Mastery of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and demonstrable work experience may substitute for the degree requirement
