Job Description

Like working with your hands ? Like working with manual machines? Like working with hand tools adjusting machines? Yes, yes, yes- then apply! Machine Operator with 3-5 years minimum experience. Working with manual machines using hand tools to make adjustments. All 3 shifts are available. Company is located in Waukegan. Manufacture all types of paper bags and wraps. A big plus if you are bilingual. This is a temp to hire position. The company will review resumes and interview for the position.



POSITION SUMMARY:

Sets up, runs, and troubleshoots bag converting and flexographic printers.

Works with large paper rolls, ink, glue, and wax

Some touchscreens on new machines, knobs and manual adjustments on old machines

Set formers, gears, and cylinders for paper set up

Maintain levels of ink, glue, and hot wax

Maintain machine speeds and keep machine running

Troubleshoot problems

Inspect the bags or food wraps

Use tools, tape measure, wrenches, screw drivers



Requirements:

Mechanical use of tools and aptitude to learn set up and troubleshoot

Basic math and ruler measurements

They are on their feet all day walking, bending, reaching, lifting

At least 2 years at one job doing machine operating and manual adjustments using hand tools

Pass ruler, math, and mechanical test

Excellent work history- no job hopping send resume interview





This position is required to setup, maintain and troubleshoot bag machine production and printing processes.



PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:



- Read job pocket orders in English

- Identify product and materials required from Set-up Sheet

- includes correct paper type, weight, lot number, width, pounds required for job, etc.

- accurate ink colors

- correct former size, gear size, cylinders, etc.

- waxes, seam glue

- specific carton number required for packing, proper labeling of cartons and palette layout

- Setup production lines efficiently and timely as required by supervision

- Inspect product quality

- size, print, quantities, etc.

- Maintain machine speed to level required by supervision

- Keep accurate reports

- includes run times, quantity produced and other reports requested by supervision

- Oversee and maintain a safe working environment on production lines

- must be alert to safety hazards for self and other employees

- Work in team environment

- Relieve other positions as needed

Any other job duties as assigned.



JOB REQUIREMENTS:



EDUCATION:

High School Diploma preferred, but not required.

EXPERIENCE:

TWO TO THREE YEARS OF MACHINE OPERATION/SETUP EXPERIENCE WITH HAND TOOLS.

SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide simple numbers (100's and 1000's). Perform these operations using American and Metric units of measurement.

Must possess mechanical aptitude sufficient to setup and troubleshoot machine problems involving variables in standardized situations.

Good verbal and written English skills.

Must be able to work with limited supervision while utilizing other team members and team leader to answer basic questions. Production Supervision is available for more complex questions and problems.

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:

Knowledge in use of various hand tools assigned and authorized by supervisor, including tape measure, screwdriver, wrenches, etc.

Must use overhead and floor hoist to move large paper rolls and cylinders.
