What is the job?

Under direct supervision, serves as a primary mechanical resource for filling production operations. Contributes to ensuring safe working practices are followed and contributes ideas to simplify and standardize the workplace.

* Performs disassembles, sanitation verification, re-assembly, set up, daily start up, tuning and repair of filling, labeling and packaging machinery in accordance with production requirements.

* Ensures proper operation of machinery and perform changeovers efficiently and accurately.

* Operates production equipment as needed and orient/train production personnel on proper operation of production equipment including, but not limited to: sampling and testing of fill weights, coding, torque and any necessary functional tests such as proper seals, dispensing, etc.

* Responsible for Material Productivity, MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and meeting all defined production/quality standards related to, safety, quality cost and service.

* Performs and leads routine preventive maintenance for all filling, labeling and packaging equipment to ensure equipment is performing at optimum levels.



* Improves production performance by simplifying work processes according to defined scope and span of control. This may include creation of One-point lessons for knowledge enhancement and skill development.

* Partners with Production Coordinator to review/record/monitor downtime sheets, forms, checklists, and log books to ensure proper documentation in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices.

What do you bring to the job?

* Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required;

Experience/Skills:

* Must have technical knowledge and mechanical aptitude to perform set up, daily start up, tuning, minor repair of filling, labeling and packaging machinery that is typically acquired through 3-5 years of experience in a production maintenance shop of a manufacturing facility and as demonstrated by passing written technical knowledge and mechanical aptitude test. Must demonstrate competencies established for this level, including use of hand and power tools, ability to use maintenance manuals and knowledge of basic electrical and pneumatic equipment.

* Must be able to visually inspect component parts for compliance with quality standards; check day codes and other required coding; check product labeling; and match product with the appropriate carton.

* Must be able to follow and demonstrate daily all safety and quality rules and regulations as they apply to the production area.
