Job Description

Position Title: Quality Control Technician I

Department: Quality Control

Shift: 2nd



Position Summary and Objectives:

Quality Technician I is the entry level Quality Technician position. Quality Technician I completes the measurements of performance against quality and food safety standards. Safety and proper GMP's are practiced in all areas of work. The Technician is accurate, timely and precise in the collection of information and effective in assuring communication of the information to company members responsible for the compliance. The technician is responsible for the entirety of their line from mixing through packaging. Must Ensure efficient production and compliance with all Company quality, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices policies and procedures.



Essential Job Functions:



Under direct Supervision, learn to perform the following activities:

Packaging

* Performs package evaluations on finished packages that may include:

o Integrity

o Appearance

o Functionality

o Atmosphere

o Codes and Dates

o UPC and label correctness

o Performs product evaluations on finished products that may include:

o Breakage

o Salts

o Component ratios

o Flavor, odor, texture and appearance

o Peroxide Values

* Measurement Recording and Communications

* Maintains records of findings and highlights non-conformance

* Informs Operators, Mechanics, Line Leaders and Managers of issues

* Assures Food Safety, HACCP and Good Manufacturing Practices compliance throughout facility

* Verification of metal detection program and x-ray program compliance

* Validates accuracy of measurements and equipment for quality measurement

* Evaluates palletized product leaving department for compliance to all standards

* Assures information for actions and standards are available and communicated to all staff that require it to make informed decisions and minimum defects

* Identifies and acts to prevent unacceptable product shipment to customer

* Check and verify label stock



Sample Preparation

* Assures accurate formulation and components

* Verifies package compliance to standards for appearance and performance

* Tests and verifies ingredients are correct grade, standard, appearance, chemical/ physical/microbiological compliant and sensory attributes are met

* Prepares duplicate reference samples

* Assure sample approval prior to distribution

* Distributes samples to all required persons in time



Essential Job Requirements: (list most important first)

* 0-1 years of experience in work requiring strong attention to detail, mathematics, and/or quality assurance functions, preferably food packaging/processing

* Demonstrated analytical and technical capabilities, leadership skills, and good communications skills, including written, electronic, and verbal

* Ability to quickly learn and comply with Company safety, quality, Good Manufacturing, and other required policies and procedures

* High School diploma/equivalent required, Associate Degree preferred



Additional Information or Requirements:

Standing for long periods of time; lifting up to 50 lbs.; exposure to noise levels requiring hearing protection.
